INDONESIA VOLCANO TOUR

PRIVATE DEPARTURE

Indonesia is a popular destination for volcano tours. With numerous active volcanoes scattered throughout the archipelago, there are endless opportunities for adventurers and nature enthusiasts to climb and explore these majestic natural wonders. The volcanic activity in Indonesia also contributes to the fertile soil, making it suitable for agriculture and resulting in a rich diversity of flora and fauna.

Volcano Types in Indonesia

Located in the Pacific Ring of Fire, Indonesia features a diverse range of volcanoes, including:

  • Stratovolcanoes. The characteristics of stratovolcanoes, the most common type found, are defined by their steep slopes and explosive eruptions. Mount Bromo, situated in East Java, is a classic example of a stratovolcano. Mount Merapi, located in Central Java, is a stratovolcano and one of the most active volcanoes in Indonesia, with eruptions occurring every few years.
  • Shield volcanoes. Shield volcanoes, on the other hand, have gentle slopes and are formed by slow-moving lava flows. The famous Mount Agung on Bali is a representative example of a shield volcano
  • calderas.  Lastly, there are calderas, which are large volcanic craters formed after a major eruption causes the collapse of a volcano's summit. One of the most famous calderas in Indonesia is Lake Toba in Sumatra.
