Komodo dive sites are known for their abundance of marine life, including mantas, reef sharks, turtles, and other incredible species. However, divers should keep in mind that the currents can be strong.
The currents in Komodo can range from mild to strong, and the temperature of the waters ranges from a comfortable 25°C (77°F) to 29°C (84°F). The visibility is usually crystal clear with depths ranging from 10-50 meters (33-165 feet), making it an ideal dive spot for both beginners and advanced divers.
Divers hoping for an exciting drift dive experience should consider visiting dive sites such as Castle Rock, Crystal Rock, and The Cauldron - all of which are known for their stunning coral reefs and marine life as well as strong, sweeping currents. However, less experienced divers may want to avoid these sites or take extra precautions before attempting to dive there. Some of the more current-protected sites in Komodo include Sebayur Island, Pengadang Island, and the mangroves of Gili Lawa.
