Being one of the largest islands in the world, Borneo (Kalimantan), is rich with many fascinating and endemic wildlife.
As most of the land is filled with rainforests, the diversity of flora and fauna is amazing. From the lovely Orangutans, Proboscis Monkeys, Gibbons, and other species of monkeys. Here, you can also see Argus Pheasants, Snakes (including the three species of flying snakes), Sun Bears, and more than 600 species of birds including the Hornbills which play an important role in the Dayak mythology. Borneo also has lots of exclusive plants that you can not find anywhere else. The black orchids, carnivorous pitcher plants, the 70-meter trees that are known as the hardest wood in the rainforest (Iron Wood), and many more.
